Wuz Wuz & Bott Bott (Arabic: وظوظ و بطبط; Roman: wuzuz w bitbat) is an Egyptian children's animated series produced by Arascope Film Company. As production began in 1999, the show aired on Disney Channel Arabia from 2001-2003 and MBC 3 from 2004-2005, and went on to win seven awards at the Cairo Children's Festival and other international and local festivals.

Plot

Wuz Wuz and Bott Bott are two wooden dolls that were sprung to life by a magic hand and decided to take a career in acting. In each episode they go on a different acting adventure. They can go almost anywhere space, sea, go back and forth in time discovering each time a new value.

Bad Qualities

  1. The show was notorious for being the blatant rip-off of Big Idea's famous series VeggieTales, judging by its similar-looking character designs and CGI animation style.
    • On a similar note, some of the characters also appear to infringe trademark on VeggieTales characters as follows:
      • The majority of the characters' eyes ripped off VeggieTales' iconic character eye design.
      • One of the titular characters, Wuz Wuz bears a striking resemblance to Buzz-Saw Louie.
      • One of the characters, Azouz is a tomato. However, he is in a different shape in contrast to Bob.
      • Zippers the dog bears a strong resemblance to the sheep from Dave and the Giant Pickle.
      • The show's main antagonist, Bassiouni (who is the pirate as pictured in promo images) is a potential ripoff of Mr. Nezzer, considering his villainous roles throughout the show and also his similar-looking nose with a wart on it.
      • During the music video at the end of "The Secret Detectives", there is a small blue spiky monster who clearly resembles the monsters from Where's God When I'm S-Scared?.
      • At the end of the fourth episode, there is a pineapple hopping onto a chair next to a bandage-wrapped Bott Bott.
  2. The CGI animation can be cheap, lazy and unfinished, even for the early-to-mid-2000s standards.
    • Even the CGI animation hasn't aged well, ranging from poorly made in Maya and 3ds Max to just plain awful.
  3. Limited facial expressions on most characters, which can range from awkward to severely cringeworthy at times as well.
  4. Much like The Nutshack theme song, the words "Wuz Wuz & Bott Bott" got repeated over lots of times.
  5. Awful and ear-grating voice acting that makes the Arabic dub of VeggieTales look amazing in comparison.
  6. In one episode, Wuz Wuz became emotional and starts crying because he didn't get the chance to be a good singer, which can be understandable, but it can't be due to the voice acting being awful and ear-grating.
  7. CGI animated backgrounds are filled with notable errors at times.
  8. Most songs can be out of tune at most parts.
  9. Some animation errors aren't only with the backgrounds. They're also about the characters' actions like eating, hopping, jumping, and more.
  10. The show's opening theme intro is treated similarly to the VeggieTales one, including having the clip montage of the show's episodes (there are three variations of the montage per season) within the same original opening footage.
  11. The first episode, "Wuz Wuz the Singer" has a similar moral to Where's God When I'm S-Scared?, although here it centers more on stage fear.
  12. The fourth episode, "Forgiveness" has the same moral as God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?!
  13. Episodes that take place in outer space, including "Dove of Peace" and "Freedom Planet" appear to be ripped off in both moral and settings from both story segments of Are You My Neighbor? respectively.

Good Qualities

  1. Some songs can give you ear worms.
  2. Some characters are very likable like Bott Bott, Fou Fou, Jaeida, Uncle Gad, and many others.
  3. The show sometimes teaches kids a lot of good stuff like sharing, loving, caring about their pet animals, and more.
  4. The CGI animation (while being cheap) can be a lot more fluid and smoother in seasons 2-3.

Trivia

  • Arascope, who produced this show, also dubbed VeggieTales into Arabic around the same time.
  • The first season was in low visual Composite quality. The other two seasons are in high visual quality.
  • Like with VeggieTales, the show's animation also evolved, with the first season having limited animation and in similar CGI quality to Softimage. By Season 2, the animation became more fluid, and Season 3 used a more fluid, Maya-like production design (much like the 2000s VeggieTales episodes).
  • The Al Hor font that was used in several episodes of this show was also used for localizations in the Arabic dub of VeggieTales (albeit only in Arascope's dub of the show).
