Why It's Too Wacky (and Dreadful)

Warning: Do not put in anything about Vyond, as it's common for fans to compare this show's animation to Vyond’s.

  1. Most of the original racers like The Ant Hill Mob and The Slag Brothers don't return in this series. Despite the production company having the rights to those characters, they still decided to cut back on the number of characters for unknown reasons.
    • Speaking of which, Professor Pat Pending has been apparently replaced with a new racer named IQ. IQ does not live up to the humor and charm Pat Pending had.
  2. Overuse of stock images.
  3. Pathetic, repetitive, and cruel attempts at comedy.
  4. Gross-out humor is scattered throughout the show, including the "Peter Imperfect" episode where a grotesque Peter Perfect (after losing his mojo due to IQ's machine malfunctioning) eats live goldfish.
  5. Laughably bad dialogue.
  6. Awfully weak writing, full of clichés and generic overdone plots.
  7. One episode made a joke about the infamous whip-crack sound effect which was known for being overused in Season 6 of Johnny Test.
  8. Overuse of self-aware jokes, jokes that break the fourth wall from the show.
  9. The slapstick throughout the series is unfunny, repetitive, predictable, and painful to watch.
  10. The season 1 finale, 40 Yard Dash was not well-received.
  11. It is revealed that the Dick Dastardly in the show is actually the son/descendant of the original Dick Dastardly from the original Wacky Races series. Though in the episode Grandfather Knows Best it is revealed that the original Dick Dastardly is really the grandfather of the Dick Dastardly in the show. This could get very confusing and is a major plothole to the original series.
  12. The show actually attempts to mock the people who dislikes the reboot. In one episode in Season 2, Dick Dastardly says that most people aren't watching the show and instead is on the internet who rants about bad shows. It's nowhere near as bad as how Teen Titans Go! mocks its haters, but this is still worth noting.
  13. It's cool to see Hanna-Barbera characters, but sometimes feel out of place in a episode.
  14. Dick Dastardly is used as the host in the endo episode, instead of an HB character like Black Vulcan.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Great voice acting.
  2. The background music is good and the SFX have the Hanna-Barbera charm to them. Alongside, the new theme song is rather catchy.
  3. Penelope's twin sister Pandora Pitstop is a pretty interesting addition to the cast.
  4. The hand drawn animation is a bit decent despite being off-model at times.
  5. It brought back the Hanna-Barbera name on television for the first time since 2002.

Reception

Wacky Races (2017) currently has a 5.5/10 on IMDb.
