On February 29, 2020, Mexican voice actor Luis Alfonso Mendoza was murdered, along with his wife Lourdes Adame and brother-in-law Mario Roberto Adame at age 55 in Mexico City, at 604 Balboa Street. The motive of the murder was treated by a dispute for the property that ArtSpot was located. The property was rented in 1995 by his wife Lourdes Adame, however, the problems started when the owner of the place died. Supposedly, Mario Chen Martínez would have inherited the house, but for lack of a testamentary document, which proves, the transfer could not be completed and Luis Alfonso filed a real estate action, which led him to despair. Then on February 29, he ended up committing the crime, firing nine shots, before the author shot himself in the head. Chen was transferred to the Xoco Hospital, where he ended up dying four hours later.

Famously known for voicing characters like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck from the Looney Tunes franchise, Count Duckula from the cartoon of the same name, Edward from Camp Lazlo, Kon from Bleach, Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987), Carlton Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel-air, Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory (only the pilot and the first six episodes), Phil Miller from The Last Man on Earth, Ditto and Octagon Vreedle from Ben 10 and mainly teen and adult Gohan from the Dragon Ball franchise. He also voiced actors like Matt LeBlanc, Kevin Hart, Jim Parsons, Ralph Macchio and Michael Peña. Various fans and Mexican voice actors, like Mario Castañeda, Eduardo Garza, René García who also worked in the Mexican dub of the Dragon Ball franchise, Ariadna Rivas, Patricia Acevedo, Yamil Atala, Love Santini, Maggie Vera and others gave their condolences on his death on social media, as well Toei Animation paid tribute to him.

May he rest in peace.
