Omni-Tricked is the thirty-seventh to fortieth episode of Ben 10 (2016).

Why They Omni-Tricked Us

  1. Really, really, really poor grasp of the source material and horrible writing, causing major plotholes.
    • Ben gets Vilgax's species.
      • On topic of that, how did Ben get the DNA for Gax?
    • Vilgax is somewhat originally "Vil," who is a skinny elderly Vilgax-looking alien.
      • Again, on topic of this, why was Vilgax originally Vil?
    • Upgrade was killed off (though it's later revealed in the Season 2 finale, "Innervasion", that he actually turned into Glitch Ben).
      • Yet again, on topic of this, how can Upgrade die when he is living DNA?
    • How did Ben and Vilgax manage to survive being submerged in lava!?
    • And how is Vil able to steal Gax's DNA!?
  2. False Advertising: Gax was mainly advertised for being stronger than the other aliens, but it turned out that Gax only has wavy tentacles and laser eyes, which is what many other superheros have.
    • On topic, Gax is mainly Vilgax, but a hero with a completely different design.
  3. Both Part 2 and Part 3 (well, most of it) is filler.
  4. Vilgax returns, but only to come off as a generic villain who wants to destroy the world because he's evil.
  5. Gax was killed off too early.
  6. It, again, tries too hard to be epic, and of course, fails at it.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Gax is a good alien, and would've been a good alien if he stayed.
    • However without this episode, we wouldn't have the much-better Shock Rock.
  2. Some heartwarming scenes such as Ben telling Gwen "cousins forever."

Reception

Despite the episode being majorly criticized for Upgrade's death and how it began the infamous Omni-Enhanced forms, “Omni-Tricked” received mixed reviews from critics. This episode was considered the high point of the reboot, but it wasn't saying much. “Omni-Tricked” opened with only 1.2 million viewers watching, making it a total flop in ratings.
