Keep Beach City Weird is the 31st episode of the first season of Steven Universe and is the thirty-first episode overall.

Steven is taken in by Ronaldo's conspiracy theories about the paranormal occurrences in Beach City.

Intentional Weird Qualities

NOTE: This episode is bad on purpose.

  1. It's an episode completely dedicated to Ronaldo Fryman, one of (if not the) most hated characters in Steven Universe (Next to Kevin), as he's incredibly rude, annoying, unlikable, and overall insufferable know-it-all. While his behavior is probably meant to be funny, it comes off as unbelievably irritating instead.
  2. Speaking of Ronaldo, his insufferable behavior is in absolute full swing. He spends nearly the entire episode whining about wanting to feel important, acting obnoxiously over-the-top, and overall simply being unpleasant and egotistical, treating Peedee and Steven like garbage in his pursuit of being famous.
  3. The main gem trio gets little to no focus, with Ronaldo instead taking up almost all of the spotlight.
  4. The infamous scene where Ronaldo knocks out and kidnaps Steven due to his idiocy causing him to mistake him for an alien when all he was doing was wearing a visibly cheaply-made and false and making fake "alien" sounds. Which is also very mean-spirited and outright cruel to do on a kind-hearted and fun-loving person like Steven.
  5. It comes off as a filler episode that adds little to nothing to the story or character development just exists to stall from the major plot points and events.
    • Although to be fair, this might have been done on purpose as the episode was made so that people won't find that Rebecca Sugar's cartoon is perfect.

Good Qualities

  1. Watching Ronaldo get beaten up by the Crystal Gems, in the end, was satisfying and made for a decent ending.
  2. The animation and voice acting are still great.
  3. A few funny moments, such as the line said by Ronaldo "SNAKE PEOPLE?!".

  • This episode along with the New Thursdays on Cartoon Network aired one day before Halloween.
  • It spawned the "Sneople" meme.
