Kamen Rider Stronger (仮面ライダーストロンガー Kamen Raidā Sutorongā, "Masked Rider Stronger" in English) is a Japanese tokusatsu drama and the fifth installment of the Kamen Rider Series. Debuting as the 5th entry of the Showa Era, the series aired from April 5, 1975 to December 27, 1975 on TBS and MBS. Lasting 39 episodes, the series was a joint collaboration between Toei Company and Ishinomori Productions.

Why It's Anything But Strong

  1. Most of the costumes are either migraine-inducing or really plain and lazy. Stronger being the worst offender with the gigantic helmet and puffy chest.
  2. Shigeru is a very unlikeable protagonist, he tries to be cool and standoffish like his predecessors, but just comes off antagonistic.
  3. Yuriko wasn't much better because of her underwhelming action choreography (though it was understandable, due to the actress' health issues) and belittling from Shigeru.
  4. A lot of the special effects where Stronger utilizes his electric powers are really weird, though not terrible for an old show like this
  5. The theme song is simultaneously both forgettable and annoying.
  6. The finale feels very fan services (in a bad way) bringing back the previous 6 Riders, similar to Black RX bringing back the Showa Riders.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. This was the first Rider to give us a female protagonist (who can transform), despite the way she was treated.
  2. This was also the first show to give us a Final Form with Stronger Charged Up.
