Disgusto amoroso is the 62th episode of Season 2 of El Chavo del Ocho. It first aired on September 16, 1974.

Why It Sucks

  1. The overall atmosphere of this episode is very depressing, with Doña Florinda and El Profesor Jirafales breaking up, causing everyone in the vecindad to be affected negatively. This makes it very hard to watch.
  2. The episode tries to light up the gloomy feel of the events with some jokes, but these are barely able to get some effects because the episode is still depressing.
  3. Why did Doña Florinda and El Profesor Jirafales ended their romance in the first place, was never explained.
  4. It doesn't even make sense why would they, the most stable couple of the series, end their relationship without a motive. The few times their romance had turbulences all had to do over misunderstandings, which they were quick to hook up again once everything was explained.
    • It also doesn't make sense why would Doña Clotilde and Don Ramón end their "relationship" too, since she has been shown to never give up on seducing him, so her just suddenly saying their romance is over because their neighbor's relationship ended is innacurate for her character.
  5. El Chavo and Quico refuse to help Doña Florinda and El Profesor Jirafales restart their relationship because, in their words, "when they are in love with each other, they ignore everything around them", therefore, they won't be able to receive a square ball, something which doesn't even exist, by the way. And when they do restart their relationship, the duo are frustrated over not getting their square ball, instead of being happy, especially Quico.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The actors still do a good job with their characters.
  2. Good Ending: Doña Florinda and El Profesor Jirafales do get together again at the end of the episode, and so does Doña Clotilde and Don Ramón.
  3. Don Ramón is the saving grace of this episode, and the biggest voice of reason for them to date again. He's also funny with him trying to remind Jirafales over the money while they are lovestruck.
