Cubo Mágico! (lit. Rubik's Cube!) is the third episode of the fourth season of As Aventuras de Gui & Estopa, originally premiered in 2016. The episode focuses on Gui having to finish solving a Rubik's Cube after he lied to Cróquete saying he could solve it easily.

Why It Sucks

  1. Gui is really unlikeable in this episode, as he lies to Cróquete claiming to know how to solve a Rubik's Cube, although he never tried to solve one before. After that he cheats by changing the cube stickers from position and lies again to claim that he solved the cube in just 25 seconds. And at the end of the episode, instead of confessing that he cheated and avoid being embarrassed on television, he prefers to try to solve the cube anyway, demonstrating that he would rather not stain his pride than be honest to tell the truth.
  2. The episode has a bad moral, since Gui not only lies, but also cheats to solve the cube and does not regret what he did.
  3. The animation of Gui trying to solve the Rubik's Cube is horrible, it looks like the cube is floating in midair, and there is an inconsistency in the size of the cube.
  4. Plotholes: after Gui ends his cheating by changing the position cube stickers, the room is shown messy and Estopa claims that Gui did this while trying to solve the cube, however the room was not messy before Gui did the cheating.
  5. Awful ending: it is revealed that Róquete received a whole TV channel as a gift from her father and Cróquete takes advantage of it for Gui to show how he solved the cube on television. Instead of Gui revealing the lie he made he prefers to solve the cube anyway, making the show's host embarrassed and having to end the program, however Gui remains in the channel's studio (being alone with the cleaning staff) until the next day when he finally solves the cube (appearing paralyzed with a big smile).
  6. Gui's smile at the end of the episode (also featured on the title card) seems a little scary to look at.
    1. The fact that the final scene of the episode was placed on the title card was also a big spoiler.

  • Fred Flintstone appears in a cameo on a poster in Gui's room.
