Caillou's New Adventures is a British-Canadian educational children's animated television series and reboot of the original Caillou produced by WildBrain subsidiary WildBrain Spark Studios and premiered on November 24, 2016.

Why Each Day, It Still Doesn't Grow Some More

  1. First and foremost, it doesn't improve anything from the original show and instead worsens most of it from here.
  2. Two of the main characters have been flanderized.
    • Caillou has been flanderized back to his Season 1-3 roots as he reverts to acting like a whiny, spoiled brat. He's also more loud and obnoxious than he was previously.
    • Rosie is at her absolute worst in this reboot as she acts even whinier and more demanding than she already was in the original show.
  3. Misleading Title: Despite the title being "Caillou's New Adventures", many of the episodes in the first season are just remakes of episodes from the original show, rather than making new plots.
  4. While the backgrounds are completely done, it doesn't fit the storybook style of the original show.
  5. Much like some other reboots, such as Bob the Builder (2015), Fireman Sam since Season 6, Postman Pat: Special Delivery Service, Noddy, Toyland Detective, Monster High (2016), The Powerpuff Girls (2016), the Netflix era of VeggieTales, Thomas & Friends: Big World! Big Adventures! & All Engines Go! and Oggy and the Cockroaches: Next Generation, this reboot tries way too hard to modernize Caillou but it's done very poorly to the point where it doesn't even feel like the same show at all.
  6. In addition, the show's titles and thumbnails can sometimes be misleading. An episode has the title called Caillou Gets Pranked where the thumbnail shows Caillou crying when he sees a shark's fin around him. In reality, this actually does not happen in the video as it follows Caillou and his family going to the beach.
  7. Terrible, bland and annoying voice acting. And no, not even Laurie Hymes (who voices Caillou and Leo) nor Mike Pollock (the voice of Boris, Grandpa, and all other adult males) can save this series with so much wasted talent.
    • In particular, Doris sounds pretty dull.
    • Most of the time, Caillou sounds older than a 4-5-year-old.
  8. It tries way too hard to be hip and cool with the kids, as in one episode, Caillou and another character plays with a Fidget Spinner, along with doing with the floor is lava challenge in another.
  9. The animation is even more lazily done in the reboot, due to being made with flash animation. All of the character movements are stilted and very poorly animated. Even the flash animation from the last two seasons of the original show was better than this including most of the GoAnimate/Vyond videos (Though we’re just being sarcastic, the latter videos are worse).
  10. The plots are extremely clichéd and stale as well in the later seasons.
  11. Bland soundtrack for many of the episodes.
  12. Some pretty ugly character designs unlike in the original show.
    • To make matters worse, starting with the episode "Doctor Caillou's Patient", they change the character designs making it even more unfitting to the original.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Unlike the original show, Caillou does end up getting punished; there are two examples.
    • One example was not listening to his mom to get off of his video games.
    • Another time was for banging on the table, and for not eating his broccoli. And for trying to escape his room to play with his friends.
    • And by that of what is said above of UQ#1, it even manages to make an influence on the Vyond's "Caillou Gets Grounded" series of Grounded Videos that was done right.
  2. Doris got character development and she's way more likable in the remake than in the original show.
    • Caillou, even if he is more obnoxious and acts a spoiled brat and whines, doesn't whine as much in the original show.
  3. There is an episode about racism and how it's bad called "Caillou Stands Against Racism", which was actually pretty decent at best.
    • Other episodes can be decent at times.
  4. It still has education tones like in the original.
  5. Despite what WHEDISDGSM #11 says, the character designs of "Doctor Caillou's Patient" are actually a step up, as they look less rigid and they look more accurate to the character designs in the original series (especially Caillou).

The show got overwhelmingly negative reviews from users, as it has a 3.6/10 on IMDB.[1]

  • Caillou actually ends up turning 5 in the series, which debunks the theory that it is set between the events of seasons 3 (2002) and 4 (2006) of the original.
  • Before 2021, this web series couldn't be accessed through the United States due to PBS' rights to the series at the time. After their rights expired, they are now officially able to be accessed in the US and they aired on Cartoon Network's Cartoonito block as well from late 2021 to May 2022.
